Something extraordinary fills a room with people who care about others and the world we live in. Yes, of course, there is great food and spectacular entertainment for less than the cost of a 3-D movie yet is so much more. Participants make it possible for people to eat, sleep, get access to medical treatment, and the support needed to stay healthy until a cure becomes available for HIV/AIDS.

Top notch talent will motivate all to make 2014 our most successful walk to date. These types of events help the NJ HIV/AIDS Community break down the stigma associated with this illness adding dignity to the lives of those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Let all see how we fight for our family on this side of the river, RIGHT HERE IN NEW JERSEY!

The Loft's generosity keeps tickets affordable so that everyone may participate in the fun-draising opportunities. We know that beyond the 50/50 and prize giveaways, that everyone went home a winner. BE THERE...AND BE PREPARED TO HAVE A GREAT TIME!

Ocean Grove Retreat for HIV+ GAY or BI MEN

FRIDAY, MAY 9th to SUNDAY, MAY 11th, 2014

Ocean Grove photoBuddies of NJ seeks to provide a peaceful space where adult men may escape the demands of everyday life. This 3-Day Retreat is offered at a fraction of the cost of similar retreats in surrounding areas. The affordability of this weekend is a gift from Jim at Bath Avenue House is donating nearly half of the lodging cost in memory of his friend and Buddies' former Director Stephen Scheuermann.

HIV is a virus that changes our lives forever in ways that we never expect.  So much of it is difficult, yet, so much more is an opportunity to renew who we are and how we take care of ourselves... even when we slip backward.  We are not much different than other people who decide to turn their struggles into championships.  HIV, however, is a unique challenge and it helps finding support from others who experience similar twists in:  health, lifestyles, family, relationships, employment, legalities, spirituality, and more.

Participants will be able to see the Jersey shore and breathe it in, just as the warm weather begins to envelop its coast.  Gay and Bi men will have a chance to relax and enjoy themselves and others who are different, yet, share similar life circumstances. It is a time to gain awareness of where we are in life and to where life may be calling us.  It is a time to discover and acknowledge our strengths, weaknesses, talents, frailties, desires, needs, and more...  Together we create a safe, stigma-free environment where we have us a chance to articulate who and what may support us in our journeys towards a better life.  This is not an intense weekend of problem solving; it is going to be relaxing and fun!

Mother's day is so special to those of us who still have them.  It can be even more so to those who lost their presence due to passing or estrangement.  Do not be afraid of taking this time for yourself on Mother's Day Weekend...  Firstly, we are no more than 90 minutes from anyone's home.  Secondly, we will be sending you home with a small gift for mom.  And lastly, it is a life enhancing gift that may honor anyone who cares for you... any mom should be more than proud to receive such a gift on Mother's Day!

YOU MAY ATTEND: Any adult man who self identifies as gay or bi-sexual may apply to attend regardless of age, race, nationality, socio-economic status, looks, religious beliefs, or political stature.  Just remember that selected applicants will only be those who can present a proof of status and/or demonstrate how HIV strongly affects their lives.  Anyone who pays prior to filing application is entitled to full refund if not selected.

If you are coming for any other reasons than:  self-enhancement, relaxation, fun, and/or brief time away from responsibilities... you may choose not to apply or to call and find out if you may experience what you hope to out of this retreat.  Space is limited; apply soon!  The cost is only $130.00 per person paid in advance to NJB by check or online at Eventbrite below.
